Joss felt like a kitten trying to find purchase on wet glass as she fought the rolling of the ship for her corner. Shadows reeled, the lamp swinging on its hook, and a deep booming sound accompanied a splattering of sea spray into the cabin.
"Yes!...er...I think so!" Alois seemed to know what was best. If he suggested a hammock she'd try one. Though she really wasn't sure how she'd manage to board it on a floor that was nothing more than a seesaw gone mad.

Belle, under orders to stay in her brother's cabin until he could return and talk more, had fallen sleep on the floor, leaning awkwardly against the wall. She was rudely awakened when the ship lurched and she tumbled with a crash into the wall on the other side of the room.
Cursing, she managed to get to her knees, one hand pressed against her throbbing temple, when another lurch sent her sprawling.
This time an iron grip under her arm hauled her to her feet, and turning she saw a pirate she didn't recognise. He steered her over to a rolled up hammock, which he promptly loosed and secured, then pointed to her to get in it.
Belle just glared at him, affronted.
"C'pn's orders," he grunted, clearly irritating at having to take care of this scarred, landlubber girl, even if she was the Captain's sister. "Ge' in. An' stay in. Ye'll jus' be a nuis'nce oth'rwise."
Ever stubborn, Belle opened her mouth to protest, but the pirate rolled his eyes and lifted her into the hammock before striding out and slamming the door behind him. Furious, Belle was determined to go after him, but another lurch had her clutching the hammock for dear life.
Perhaps it was best to stay there after all.

Alois quickly crossed the cabin and caught Joss before the next roll of the ship set her tumbling again. Helping the woman keep her balance on the heaving deck, she led the way to another hammock, and with a practiced flick of the wrist, unrolled it.
Here she hesitated. She'd picked Hattie up because she was too weak to get in on her own...but...
"Ya wan' me 'elp tae ge' in?"
You want my help to get in?

The hammock looked like a spiderweb in the dim loops of light. Joss looked at it with misgiving.
"I'll, ah...I'll try it on my own-
The ship seemed to fall out from under her, leaving her stomach somewhere overhead. She grabbed the edge of the hammock for support and just as quickly the floor slewed around a different way and bucked under her feet. More by accident than design Joss fell into the hammock, the floor seeming to launch her there.
Alois held the edge of the thing while she settled as well as she could.
Laying back, finally, the cabin ceiling an indistinct kaleidescope of wooden beams, she felt a bit like a trussed chicken.

Alois smiled around at them with her best attempt at a comforting smile. It came out as more of an uncomfortable frown, and her accent thicked to near incomprehensibility. "Well, if'n ye'll stay 'n t'ose ah'raigh', t'n ye'll be foigne whil' th' storm blows o'er."
Well, if you will stay in those all right, then you'll be fine while the storm blows over.

Hattie began to enjoy her wild ride. Granted, she was rather damp as waves rolled over the ship, the spray and the odd drips all seemed to end up on her but it was warm and the pirates seemed to know what they were doing so she had no fear that they would sink. She beamed at Noros, Joss and then Alois when the young pirate addressed them all. Above the noise of the storm and the ship, Hattie had absolutely no idea what he was saying but the young pirate didn't seem to be worried so Hattie didn't either.
The thunder rolled ahead. Like most tropical storms, it was passing as fast as it had arrived. The lightning flashes were fewer, the seas appeared to be calming just a little. The thunder was fading a little with distance.
Hattie was hungry again.

Noros was growing tired again, as the storm had woken him up from his accidental nap, but he wasn't sure if he could sleep with the ship shaking the way it was, so he just stayed in the hammock, trying his best to relax while the pirate started to speak.
He only caught a few words, but he gathered it was something to the effect of "Sit tight until the storm is over."

Clinging to the hammock as it rocked with the ship was draining; Belle's muscles ached in protest and she was gripping the cloth so tightly her hands were beginning to go numb. The icy coldness of the sea spray and drips that splattered her also seemed to suck the energy from her body, and more than once she caught her eyelids flickering shut.
She also seemed to be less-than-compatible with the sea. Her stomach heaved with the ship and also more than once she had thought she was about to throw up. The nausea rose up to the back of her throat as the ship lurched again, and moaning pitifully Belle held onto her hammock and prayed they would escape the storm soon.

The seas began to quieten, the spray soaking everyone lessened. The thunder grew quiet. Now and again a lightning flash lit up the horizon as the storm persued its own destiny elsewhere. They were safe. Hattie suddenly felt weak as the adrenalin left her body. She settled down into her hammock, pulled it closer around her and damp as she was, she soon fell asleep.

As the storm calmed down, and soon after ended, Nova got up from his hammock and sat up against the nearby wall again.
He wasn't used to having a bed or anything to sleep on, so it just felt strange to have something now. He knew he could never get to sleep like that, he just wasn't used to it.

Alois waited until she was sure everyone was settled, then left the cabin and joined the crew in cleaning up after the storm. She had gone aloft to spell off the the lookout when she spotted the white sails on the horizon.
"Ship sighted!"

When Hattie awoke again, she was feeling much better. Her cabin was deserted and she felt hungry. Dawn was stealing across the sky. The storm, it seemed, had blown itself out. She climbed awkwardly out of her bunk and stepped across the cabin. She opened the door and looked across the deck just in time to hear Alois' words carrying on the breeze from somewhere high above her.
"Ship sighted!"

(Noros is a heavy sleeper when the surface he's sleeping on isn't thrown about, causing people to fall on him, so he'll be asleep until he wakes up, or something else causes him to awaken. Just letting everyone know.)

((sure))
Joss swung to and fro in the cradle of intertwined rope. Oddly, she felt better and more alive than she'd felt in days, even if hungry. Feeding Hattie had been her only contact with food.
"Ship sighted!"
Now this would be interesting. She struggled free of the hammock, nearly landing on her hind end and scrambled for the ladder. For some reason that she didn't even really understand she was excited to see what might be happening.

Alois peered hard at the sails, trying to make out the flag; it had been plastered against the mast by the storm, but there were still some colors--
"Royal Navy ship!" she yelled. "Royal Navy! The Brits have us in their sights!"

Hattie looked around as the pirates scattered. They shoved roughly past her, each racing to man a position to fight their enemies. She had no idea what she was supposed to do and searched around for a friendly face amongst the scattering brethren.
She noticed a spot at the stern and hurried to see the other ship, hoping her good eyesight might be of help to their cause. She climbed as high as she dared, holding onto the rigging for dear life but not allowing her feet to leave the rail and peered back, toward the threat.
"That's odd." she said to herself. Something wasn't quite right. She starined her senses trying to see all the more clearly. The other ship was gaining on them in those few seconds before the pirates were able to get their own ship under full sail.
"They're raising another flag!" Hattie exclaimed. She turned quickly to see if anyone else had noticed, to find somebody she could tell.

Belle, determined not to let her brother's orders force her to stay in the cabin, had crept out and above deck. The pirates were too busy rushing to their posts to reprimand her now, but the one who had lifted her bodily into the hammock rolled his eyes when he caught sight of her. Belle pulled a face at him, the sight made even more gruesome by the scar splitting her face.
She could see her brother at the wheel, shouting orders and looking determined and serious; every inch the pirate captain. It was a strange feeling - she had never seen this side to him before, except when it came to keeping her safe.
A thin figure at the rigging caught her attention. It was Hattie, looking frail and delicate, as though she might blow overboard in the wind. Eager to see a friendly face, Belle hurried across the ship until she was stood beneath her at the rail. The girl seemed concerned by the something she had seen.
"What is it?" Belle called up, "What do you see?"

"The ship!" Hattie answered her friend as Belle's scarred face appeared a little below her. "They're raising another flag." She climbed down again, until she was beside Belle and holding tightly to the rail, turned to her. "Looks like a black 'un. 'Nother pirate flag perhaps?"
Hattie looked round to the busy men and the Captain, who intimidated her greatly, standing at the wheel not far from them.
"We ought to tell 'em."

Joss stood at the rail, listening to the other two girls and watching the ship.
"I'll tell him," she volunteered.
Joss made her way across the deck and found a tall pirate with a scarred face blocking her way. He shoved her back a step.
"Hayr, wher'n uz thynk yer goin?" He challenged her.
Joss stood straight then had to take a short step to compensate for the movement of the ship.
"I need to speak to the captain," she informed the man icily.

Making another NPC (well two really), feel free to do what you will with him once I've had my use of him! lol
Bim saw the Navy ship. He knew it meant trouble.
The last thing he wanted was to have to face the Navy. After all the wrongs he'd committed, he wanted nothing more than to sink their ship to the ocean floor.
That was why he readied a cannon. That was why he started firing.
Other NPC.
Chaw was a coward. He just wanted to hide and hope nothing would happen. The very fact that the other pirates hadn't done away with him yet was a surprise in itself. They probably just wanted someone to jest about, to make wisecracks and throw insults at.
Chaw was running down the stairs into the ships cargo bay when he saw Bim firing a cannon.
"No!!!" Chaw yelled, "You'll provoke them!"
It was too late. Apparently, Bim had already fired twice, making this his third shot. Men sure were capable of a lot when filled with fear and other emotions.
Noros
The wall above his head exploded inward, sending boards flying, as a cannonball blasted through it, just over Noros' head.
"WHAT THE HELL!?!" Noros yelled as he awoke, jumping to his feet and running toward the stairs, "WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!?"
Chaw
Chaw ran up the stairs, "WE'RE UNDER ATTACK!!"
Another of the pirates yelled back, rolling his eyes, "WE KNOW!!"

Alois hissed with anger. Why had the Captain taken on those useless blaggards anyway?! Like a squirrel, she shot down the mast and rigging, landing with a light tump on deck.
"W'are'd th' gunnery o'ffc'r ge' to?" she demanded of the first sailor she saw. (Chaw, or whoever) "W'un's got an idiot who's firin' wit'out orders!"
Where'd the gunnery officer get to? We've got an idiot who's firing without orders!

The ship lurched horribly as the cannon blasted into the side. Belle felt herself slipping and clutched the rail for dear life. She glanced up to see how Hattie was faring on the rigging - God knew what would happen to her if she fell overboard ...

As the ship lurged, she felt the deck almost dissapear under her feet and then heave back again. Hattie followed her instincts and threw herself flat on deck, lowering her centre of gravity and hands searching for something solid to hang on to. They found Belle and Hattie gripped her arm in fright.

Noros tried (and failed) to stand. Falling back against the partially destroyed wall, he hit his head, "I can't get any sleep, can I!?"
He stood up again making sure to focus more on balancing. After he gained some footing, he ran up the stairs to see if he could help with anything.
The sight on deck wasn't much better than he'd expected. Hattie was clinging to Belle, and the pirates were running amok, shouting and preparing for what he hoped to be either escape or counter attack.
He decided it would be best to help those he actually knew, or at least those who he recognized. Running over to Belle and Hattie (and quite nearly nosediving into the deck several times) he managed to make it there without looking like a complete ass.
It was strange to him, how he could be so reliable on dry land, and that the unsettled footing of the sea was all it took to turn him into a clumsy-looking fool.
Regaining his footing once more as the ship wavered, he shouted, so as to be heard over the commotion, "What in the world is going on!? Who's attacking us?"
