Ok. So.
Here we go.
For those of you who haven't seen the anime series, Naruto, I'm going to break down the basics of what we're using to make our characters for this RPG Story.
Techniques
This is pretty much gonna cover most of what we're "borrowing" from Naruto.
First of all, chakra is energy found in everyone which determines their ability to control their techniques, how many techniques they can use, how long they can use them, etc. Think of it like MP (magic points) in almost any RPG game, or energy, or (in some cases) fatigue.
Chakra flows through a system similar to the circulatory system or the nervous system.
There are three basic "schools" of techniques in Naruto.
Ninjitsu, Genjitsu, and Taijutsu
Ninjitsu: Physical techniques which are enhanced by chakra. There are several examples, such as creating clones (or decoys) of yourself, making your punches and kicks hit harder (and sometimes even disabling or confusing your opponents chakra system temporarily), creating balls or rays of energy, controlling items with chakra (there are several ninjas who use puppets, for example, and the puppets usually have weapons, sometimes poisons, or even explosives). There are way too many examples of ninjitsu, so I'm going to move on to the other categories, and once you learn those, you'll pretty much be able to figure out what goes where.
Genjitsu: Genjitsu is composed entirely of mental techniques, such as illusions or controlling mass amounts of chakra. The basic objective is for your opponent to die from thinking they are dead. With genjitsu, you can make your opponent feel, smell, taste, hear, and see things that are, in fact, not there.
Unless they're able to resist. Typical ways to get pulled out of genjitsu spells are injuring oneself, being injured, and concentrating all of your chakra into one area of your body (which is apparently somewhat dangerous if you don't know what you're doing lol)
Taijutsu: Martial arts. That's about it. Many ninjas combine ninjitsu and taijutsu to become excellent fighters.
Rock Lee, a character in Naruto, is unable to use ninjitsu or genjitsu, but he is able to focus chakra into his attacks, and he trains with weights, which helps to increase his speed.
-------------------------
Let's see...what else might be useful to know....
Ok. There are also scrolls and tags. They seem to be used pretty often.
Scrolls: I've seen scrolls used for a few things. They can be used to summon creatures (the more chakra used the more powerful the creature, so it requires excellent chakra control even to summon the simplest of summons).
I've also seen scrolls used to conjure weapons. usually swords, kunai, bo staffs, and things of the sort.
Tags: Tags can be used as explosives, and usually blow up when cued by a ninjitsu.
They can also be used to seal doors, to compress chakra, and to set off almost any ninjitsu or gengitsu when they are "broken" by an unsuspecting opponent.

Whew! Just had to post that to make sure I wouldn't have to type it again. That's a lot to re-type if the site logged me out or something stupid like that.
Anyway....
I'm thinking about setting up a points system, so all of our characters can be (roughly) equal.
I'll post again when I have it done.

Ok. Here we go. Each character gets 50 specialty points. You can put them in Ninjitsu, Genjitsu, or Taijutsu. A zero in any one of these stats gives a +5 bonus to the other two (not taken from the 50). Having zero in two stats makes the other stat have a total of 75 (high potential and maybe even mastery if your ability points are assorted well. (15 points will be considered average for these) KEEP IN MIND: While some people are simply born without the ability to do ninjitsu or genjutsu (a score of zero), it's less likely that they will have a zero for taijutsu, because that would require absolutely no control of at least their legs. Also, almost all ninjitsus require hand symbols, so someone with no arms (through injury, mutation, or otherwise) would be less likely to use ninjitsu spells and more likely to use genjitsu. (like Xavier, from X-men) Blah, blah, blah.... Each character gets 150 ability points. The max in any given ability can only be 100 (meaning they excel in that category, and the minimum is 5 (meaning they have very little if any ability).Yes, that's right, you can stack Endurance like no tomorrow if you want, but that doesn't give you crap in a battle situation, other that annoying your opponent lol. Any ideas, just post them here. I've made a little diagram that doesn't mean anything, simply because I was bored while brainstorming...but who knows? Maybe it will help you visualize what I'm explaining. As for numbers....since you can put 30 in every stat without any problem, 30 will be considered average. 40 will be considered above average 50 will be considered especially skilled ----------------------------------------------------------- Here is a sample character. We'll call him Bob. -------- BobNinjitsu: 12 Genjitsu: 28 Taijutsu: 10 Strength: 08 Agility: 30 Endurance: 21 Power: 31 Control: 70 This character is a typical genjitsu user. High control, decent power, decent agility, but below average strength and endurance. I didn't bother putting a profile, but I think you get the point. Like I said too many times before, any questions or suggestions, post them here. Otherwise, go ahead and post a character, and I'll be approving or disapproving them, because I want to make sure they're all decently equal and make sense and whatnot.

Oh yeah. You can pretty much make up the sort of techniques your character uses. Usually all of a characters techniques work well together and have a general similarity.
For example, a lot of Naruto's techniques include him cloning himself and then doing taijutsu with all of the clones with combos and such.

Ok.
More stuff about the story. Very important stuff.
Country of Fire Country of Water Country of Ice Country of Wind Shadow Country Country of Light Cloud Country
Someone feel free to come up with more creative names for these, but that's what they are so far.
Basically, we're going to say this:
Long ago, Cloud Country, an unknown country created to bring balance (and even peace) to all of the other countries, was created and had a giant fortress city built in the sky by each of the villages 'Kages' (highest ranked ninjas, ex: Hokage, Kazekage, etc. like in Naruto), using their chakra to forever hold it above the clouds and also to allow survival.
When created all those years ago, the city was given a 'Kage,' deemed Omnikage (that's probably not Japanese but it sounds cool lol), and they were given directions to come down and interfere should the governments of the lower countries become corrupt in any way.
The problem is, Cloud Country, with it's unforeseen powers and great minds, was the first to become corrupt. Only a few of the leaders maintain the countries original ideals, and so they've come to an agreement.
Now, in today's world, Cloud Country is readying something never seen before. They plan to announce their presence to the 'lower countries,' and announce a tournament.
Seven man teams. Created completely randomly, choosing one ninja from each country for each team. (Each of our characters should be from a different country.)
Blossom (Country of Water) Foxee Invictus (Cloud Country) Jessimyre Renos (Country of Fire) Twilight Me (Country of Light)
(If anyone on the list above doesn't want to join, someone else can take their character. First come, first serve, but make sure they don't want to join FIRST.)
The winners of the tournament will be allowed to decide what is to happen to the ninja countries of the world

Oh...and more information. I was thinking a lot while making my character, so I'm just verifying this for those of you who might be wondering. It's probably common sense, but I thought it'd be helpful.
Strength is purely physical strength. Chakra has very little to do with it. It will basically be used for fighting in hand-to-hand or with weapons and such.
Agility controls your speed as well as your reflexes in general.
Endurance has an effect on everything basically. It controlls how long you can last at your full speed, strength, etc. Endurance determines how long you can take a beating, and how big of a chakra pool you have at your disposal.
Power is completely for chakra techniques, such as Ninjitsus and Genjitsus. The higher the power, the more effective the technique.
Control is how well you can control your chakra. Lower control means you might use chakra unnecessarily when performing techniques, therefore wasting some of it. Higher control allows for the best use of your chakra pool.
As far as Ninjitsu, Genjitsu, and Taijutsu, the stats you put it also apply to your defensive skill again the same thing.
If you have low genjitsu score, you are weak against it.

Here's my character. I'm quite proud of him.
Name: Ryuu Hikaru Age: 19 Country: Country of Light Height: 6'0" Weight: 139 lbs
Ninjitsu: 28 Genjitsu: 09 Taijitsu: 13
Strength: 15 Agility: 55 Endurance: 30 Power: 15 Control: 35
Background: Hikaru was taught to make potions and poisons using different plants and liquids by his mother. His father taught him how to create explosives and taught him a good amount of tricks with puppets, including how to control them with chakra strings, which Hikaru put to use in his own original techniques.
Techniques: His skills center around out-maneuvering his opponent, relying on his incredible agility. Because of his lower chakra power, and his weaker muscles, he also relies heavily on gadgets. He uses a combination of specially made gloves, a variety of explosives, razor wire, poisons, potions, a crossbow, and a hookshot. His father was a talented puppet ninja, and taught him how to direct his attacks with heightened accuracy using chakra strings.
If and when his gadgets run out, or are unsuccessful, he is usually able to escape using smoke bombs and his nearly unbeatable speed.
Gadgets[/u]
Gloves: His gloves allow him to hold razor wire without being cut himself. His right glove has flint, which allows him to start fires, and his left glove dispenses his first (but not favourite) type of poison.
Explosives: Hikaru carries a backpack full of explosives as well as a belt lined with more explosives. All of his explosives function like this: He grabs them and 'inserts' chakra into them.
The amount of chakra he inserts into them determines when they will explode (more chakra = longer wait) and how powerful they will be (more chakra = more power).
He is then able to direct them with chakra strings (like a ball and chain, except he has one string from each hand for better control.)
Poisons: Hikaru only uses three types of poisons.
The first type (sprayed from his left glove) is a blinding liquid that burns (and eventually blinds) an opponent's eyes.
The second type is usually applied to his crossbow bolts, and causes a great deal of pain if it is able to enter your bloodstream.
The third type (his favourite) is applied to his razor wire. Like the second type of poison, this poison causes large amounts of pain when it enters your bloodstream, but, unlike the second poison, this poison is also flammable, allowing Hikaru to send flames down his razor wire directly into your bloodstream. He has appropriated named this poison, the "Blood Boiler."
Potions: He carries antidotes for all of his poisons. He also carries of variety of potions for medicinal uses.
Crossbow: He uses his crossbow for sneak attacks and for ranged combat. Often times he will coat the bolts with poison or attach his smaller explosives.
Razor Wire: He uses razor wire for short and medium range attacks, and usually coats it with his favourite poison.
Hookshot: His hookshot is used almost exclusively for quick escapes.

Name: Tsukino Sayomi (Last name, first name …. just in case XD) Age: 18 Country: Country of Water Height: 5’3” Weight: 119lbs
Ninjitsu: 26 Taijitsu: 14 Genjitsu: 10
Strength: 40 Agility: 20 Endurance: 30 Power: 20 Control: 40
[/b]Background:[/b] Brought up by her mother in Medical Corps of her country, most of Sayomi’s jutsu are focused on healing and strengthening her teammates. However her father encouraged her to learn offensive jutsu (her favourite of which being the water clone jutsu) and to build up her strength and taijutsu skills, so she is fully capable of holding her own in a fight.
Techniques: Sayomi’s skills revolve around her chakra control, so she can fight to last moment without wasting any energy. Her usual role is as her team’s medic, but her physical strength and knowledge of strategy also make her a valuable ally. Although her chakra control in good, her slightly lower chakra pool means she also carries a variety of weapons in case her jutsu fail.
Weapons:
Shuriken: Sayomi carries a fair number of the small throwing knives, but usually saves them for use as a distraction or a means of disabling an enemy long enough to escape
Daggers: She carries twin full-length dagger for close combat in case of chakra failure.
Yamikiba: A very sharp sickle attached to a chain, Sayomi mainly uses this for mid-long range attacks.
Needles: Sayomi carries a number of long, sharp needles that she will aim at vital points of the body for temporary paralysis or, in come cases, death.
Herbs and liquids: Sayomi has on her at any time a number of vials or herbs that are usually used for medicinal purposes, but can also be used to induce sickness, paralysis, sleep or death in enemies.

Name: Sukino, Sakura (last name, first name) Age: 17 (the age at which you become a ninja is around the ages of 13 or 14) Gender: Female Country: Cloud Country Height 5' 4" Weight: 110Lbs
Ninjutsu: 17 (needs to have a decent score for her difficult jutsu) Taijutsu: 28 (very skilled fighter) Genjutsu: 5 (just enough to recognize some forms of Genjutsu, and defend against them)
Strength: 20 (not very strong, but speed makes up for it) Agility: 45 *(35) (excells in it. Incorperated into her Taijutsu) Endurance: 40 (can take a lot of pain, and has LOTS of chakra) Power: 40 (high power allows for very powerful Ninjutsu) Control: 5 *(15) (low control means she can't focus her chakra well. It just comes out without much thought, other than using her weights)
*= These skill totals are for when her weights are put on.
Background: Sukino, (Sakura to her few friends), grew up like any other ninja would, except for two things. The first, was that she was the daughter of the main branch of a very esteemed Taijutsu Specialist Clan. This meant that she was expected to prove the might of the Sukino clan with absolute grace and power. And the other being that she grew up out of the prying eyes of the world. She was born into the Cloud Nation, expected to one day uphold the peace in the countries below. Sakura was the first born child of her father, a very talented young man, so she has a lot to live up to. As a child, members of her clan are taught under rigorous Taijutsu regimes, refining and honing their skills at a young age. It was discovered that Sukino was different. She also possessed a massive amount of chakra. Unfocused, this chakra could have easily made Sukino weak, constantly wasting her energy. A skilled ninja trained in the art of controlling unusually large amounts of chakra suggested using weights to help suppress and focus her chakra, which it did. (This is why she has two skill sets, one with her weights and one without.)
Skills: Sukino, Sakura's skills are few and far between, mostly consisting of Jutsu's that require large amounts of chakra to use. (Because of her large chakra pool, these skills work best for her) The main focus of her training and fighting styles, is of course, Taijutsu. (Go figure) She is trained in how to endure pain as well as how to conserve her energy and use as little as possible to achieve whatever it is she needs to do. She is very fast with moderate strength. Those two combined MORE than make up for her slightly below average strength. She constantly wears training weights as part of her training, but they remain unseen as to surprise her oppenents during battle. (starting out, none of you will know about the weights) She has two major Ninjutsu that she uses. The first is her Kage Bunshin, or Shadow Clone jutsu. She seems to have a knack for creating these semi solid doubles. Her jutsu are explained in detail below.
Fire Boxer Jutsu: This jutsu works mostly like it sounds. She basically becomes a boxer that uses fire. However, this jutsu works a little different. With this technique, she covers her hands, basically, in a glove of chakra that she puts around her hands. She performs the hand signs nessecary that allow her to exhale and it burns the chakra on her hands. This fire will only burn chakra, nothing more. This works both ways, it burns up Sukino's chakra (large chakra pool prevents this from becoming an immediate threat), and if this fire touches you, it will burn your chakra. It cannot be put out with water or wind, and it ONLY burns chakra. Sukino knows the counter Jutsu to this technique to stop the flames from burning all of her jutsu.
Other skills: Her other techniques will come around as the story progresses. A lot of them will the names of physical attacks that I still have to think of names for. She will do a mixed fighting style between Mui Tai and Chinese Martial Arts. Things like the hidden lotus will come into play. (don't worry, I'm going to be doing a segment of what my character looks and acts like too. Includes an example)

Ok, we're making a few changes to the story and rules.
First of all, you can still use numbers if you'd like for your characters "stats," but if you'd rather not, just say what they're good at or not so good at. Remember, if you make them just average, they're likely to need some "tweaking" so we know how they use their average abiities to get ahead of their opponents. blah, blah, blah.
Also, with the story.
Between each fight (for the main characters) there will be a week's worth of time to train and get to know each other (since they're from different countries). This will allow for more character developmet.
During this week's time, we can use the bad guys (and make them fight each other, to make it more realistic). Basically, the bad guys will be like disposable characters.
So now, anyone who wants to make a character (or another character), please feel free.
