Aai hesitated. "I...I would hinder you, would I not?" She took a deep breath. "I am charged to go after our Dagger, but I do not see where I can help you in this." She cast her eyes down, then glanced quickly around at the others. "Although, if there is any way, I will do my best. This plan of yours is good."

"We should try the outpost of Haegar, I think that is not far from here?" Winter answered Kage. "The best place for any news or gossip is always an outpost's kitchen or the women's quarters."
She looked at Aai as the young centaur voiced her concern.
"My friend, we would be honoured if you would join us. If you would be conscenting, I can make you like us for a little while if you wish to come. It is a difficult piece of magic but I am certain that the honourable Annui still know how to do this. You will of course return to your normal self as soon as you wish it."
She looked at the gathered Annui, they might as well make themselves useful.

(lol! Good one!)
Aai bowed her head in consent, smiling with relief. She stood very still as the elders nodded gravely, then let the magic envelop her in a shimmering weave of light and shadow. There was a flash of light, and in an instant she was balancing on two feet, her legs clothed now in woven black pants and her feet shod with a light pair of black leather boots. Eyes wide, she viewed her new self with wary delight.
Carefully, she bowed to the Elders. "I thank you." She turned back to Winter and the others with a wide smile.

Winter smiled approvingly, the Annui had done it without her using any of her valuable energy and Aai now looked like any other human, albeit more attractive than most.
"Walking and running with only two legs may take some getting used to." Winter cautioned her.
"What word is the release?" she asked the Annui elders. "Akaihan." they answered together. Winter nodded approvingly, an ancient word that was no longer in use in normal conversation so could not be said accidentally.
"Akaihan will return you to your normal self at any time. Use it wisely." Winter told Aai.
"Well, my friends." she turned to their group with a smile playing about her lips. "It is time to return to the adventure and quest at hand. Let us go, and we should reach Haegar just after mid day tomorrow."

Aai nodded at Winter's words, and held the release word in her mind for a moment, committing it to memory. Akaihan. Well, she would also have to relearn how to fight on two legs, although she would still have her trusted bow.
She took a cautious step forward, hesitant in her new body, then caught a wink from one of the Centuar Elders and found a whole new balance. She straightened and felt her smile grow. Even that, the Elders had taken care of...even if she would still need to figure out how to fight. "To Haegar," she agreed, taking another step forward.

"Indeed," Kage nodded, looking at the others, one at a time, to make sure everyone was accounted for.

Zen took a step fowards completely confused, "so wait what is going on?" she scrached her head not understanding anything that the others had said, "Or do you want to wait to explain this to me?"

"It's fairly simple in theory," Rin explained with a wry smile. Zen was the only one unaware of the group's purpose, and she had shown them no reason to mistrust her. "There is a set of legendary daggers that belonged to the ancient Airen people - five of the daggers controlled one element, and the sixth controlled the other five daggers. It was said that when the six daggers were brought togther, an immense power could be harnessed.
"The Shifta priests are trying to find those daggers to harness that power, but of course that would mean disaster for us all. So, we want to get to them first, and stop the Shifta's plans."
She looked at Kage and Winters. "Have I missed anything out?"

"No." Winter answered.
"We will go now, we need to move fast to get to Haegar and find what we may." she answered and impatient of waiting, Winter bowed her head to the elders respectfully and then turned and swept out of the hall. Finding her horse nearby, she began to check her girth, saddlery and supplies.
It was time to move.

Zen nodded, "Okay now everything makes sence" one of her ears twitched for no real apparent reason. Looking around the group she shrugged, "Lead the way"

Aai couldn't stop smiling, and stepped out with a will...pausing just a little ahead and to the side of where Winter was preparing her horse. She felt as if she could run miles, then dance a whole Autumn-fall pavane and still not feel tired. She was ready to go, and it seemed the others were as well.
"What's in Haegar?" She dropped the question into the air, not asking anyone in particular, but glancing around from one face to the next.

"The Shifta." Winter answered shortly, swinging herself up onto her mare's saddle. She reached a hand down to the centaur-human. "Coming?" she asked, offering a place on the mare's broad back.

Aai smiled and accepted Winter's help up. "Of course. Thank you."
She slid onto the mare's sleek back, noting Winter's power as she was pulled up, then gripped the back of the saddle as she settled herself. "This will be different," she remarked cheerfully, taking stock of her new height.

Kage walked to Tanguy and mounted, offering Rin a hand up.
"Haegar," he thought to himself.
He'd only ever been there once, on a mission for the guild. There was only one guild contact who lived there, but he traveled often. It wasn't likely he'd be around when they arrived, but Kage hoped he would. He'd probably have some information for them if he wasn't off somewhere.
"Have you ever been to Haegar?" he sent to Rin. He'd become accustom to speak to her with his mind. It just seemed more comfortable.

Long before the buildings of Haegar became visible to the travellers, Winter called for a stop. She'd chosen the place well, a creek ran nearby but was not so close it would disguise the sounds of anyone approaching. The meadow was grassed, so the horses would be content to graze close by and the place was well sheltered.
"We had better get a good rest," she called to them all. "The morning brings a lot of danger to us."
She gritted her teeth, she could feel the Shifta now. A faint buzz that grated against her extra senses. As irritating and unswattable as a mosquito.

Aai had learned many new and uncomfortable truths about her horse cousins, and now moved stiffly to the edge of the campsite before turning back toward the others and the horses. "I'll take care of the horses," she offered, tipping her head to the side as she glanced from one person to the next. "Seeing as how it is one of my few skills in this matter."
