Hey all! I'm back again LOL. Life was getting very hectic so I do appologise for being MIA but you seem to be getting along OK anyways. Anyways after a chat with Kage I thought about posting a new rpg for those interested... a PIRATES ONE!!! (yep, I'm fresh from seeing POTC #3 for the third time hehe) So here's the plan... What: Pirate RPG See resources: www.cindyvallar.com/piratearticles.htmlWhen: 17th century Where: Throughout the Carribbean shawnbrown.com/maps/caribbean.htmlwww.rism.org/maps/Story/plot basics:It is Wednesday and Governor D'Eath of Jamaica has declared war against lawbreakers, pirates, freebooters, corsairs and outlaws. A cruel man with a fist of iron both at home and in his position as Governor he naturally has a lot of resistance. Of course, hundreds of men and women, whether falsly accused or caught red-handed breaking the laws of England that rule the area are imprisoned, tortured for information or hanged for their crimes. Our story begins in the putrid cells of Fort James in Port Royal, (known as the wickedest city in the world and in dire need of Governor D'Eath's heavy handed measures to clean up its lawless streets) as our characters come together to plot an escape. shawnbrown.com/maps/port_royal.htmlPlease do a little research and feel free to use some creative license. Remember - you don't have to start out as a pirate, there are many options you could choose for your characters. Rules: 1) Please post here and wait to have your character approved before joining the RPG. 2) You can't control somebody else's character however you can do things to somebody else's character. 3) Be realistic - everyone has strengths, weaknesses and abilities. 4) Please don't just copy a character from those movies well all love so much - invent your own. 5) No magic powers from our characters however your character can pretend to have them, or might be a travelling stage magician (sleight of hand) etc but not real magic.. we're only human after all. 6) We are allowing some mythilogical stuff just as in the POTC films but again, don't copy straight from that - invent your own and maybe do some research on superstitions and beliefs of that era! Have fun inventing...

My character:
Name: Henrietta 'Hattie' Morgan (no relative as far as she knows to the pirate Morgan but doesn't do anything to stop people thinking this) Age: 18 Gender: Female
Appearance: A slight, pretty lass with long, nut-brown hair usually worn in a tight bun whilst at work. Dark soulful eyes and a smile that lights up a room. She bears a few scars on her hands and one pale one that runs along her jawline. She's thin but not dangerously so however is considered scrawny by the average woman of that day. A boyish figure and not a spare ounce of flesh on her.
Skills and attributes: Fierce determination, exceptional street-fighting skills, bright and eloquent to the point of downright cheekiness. Quick to learn, good balance and pretty good eyesight and hearing etc. Weaknesses: An uncontrollable temper if she's wound up. Often speaks before she thinks of the consequences of her words, often acts before thinking of the consequences of her actions. Cannot read nor write, knows little of the sea and ships at our story's beginning. Is not very physically strong - typical for a scrawny, underfed girl.
History: Henrietta was born in England. As a young child her father came to work in Jamaica as a blacksmith so naturally his family went with him. Henrietta's mother died on the journey and she was left with her grieving father to care for. He made a decent living in Port Royal and Henrietta managed the household chores from the age of 9. At 11, her father was killed by the old Governor's men. She was kicked out of their home as she couldn't pay rent and lived as a scavenger on the streets for many years.
At the age of 16 she was caught stealing food and spent a night in the cells. Somebody took pity on her and she was inducted into the Governor's household as a maid. She fell in love with one of the soldiers and bore his child at 17. Classed as a sin in those days, she had the baby taken off her by the new Governor D'Eath whom had the child killed and she herself was fired from her position.
The soldier she had loved abandoned her in her hour of need and was soon transferred back to England. Once more she was on the streets until the night she was caught stealing to feed herself and was slung into the cells of Fort James to await her sentance from the unforgiving D'Eath.

PIRATES! This is gonna be fun ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) Good to see you again, Jessi. Let's see ... how this? Name: Belle Taylor Age: 17 Gender: Female Appearance: A slender girl of average height with deep brown, almost black hair roughly cut to just below her shoulders. A scar runs from the left side of her forehead, between her eyes - brown, flecked through with gold - across her nose and into her right cheek. (Think Squall from FF8) The index finger of her right hand is crooked, from where it was broken and didn't heal properly. She has an athletic, slender figure. Skills and attributes: Very spirited and a strong will, exceptional with a blade, intelligent and perceptive. Healthy constitution and excellent hearing. A fairly competent reader. Weaknesses: The blow that caused her scar also partially damaged her left eye - she's not blind, but cannot always see very well. Her crooked finger means she cannot write, although she can read, as she can no longer hold a pen. She's a terrible liar, and incredibly stubborn. History: Belle and her brother Robert where born in England and brought to Jamaica by their father after the death of their mother, when Belle was 5 and Robert 8. Their father made a decent living as the treasurer in the old Governor's household, teaching both Belle and Robert to read and write. When he was 13, Robert began training as a soldier. Their father was killed, suspected of stealing from the Governor when Belle was 15. Robert was stripped of his position as a solider, yet was somehow able to keep himself and Belle afloat. After a few months, when Robert was out, Belle found out. Men came to their small house, looking for Robert. They tore the place apart. When Belle tried to stop them they beat her, cutting her across the face, chopping her hair off and breaking one of her fingers. Robert was furious when he came home and discovered and unconscious, wounded Belle. He admitted that he'd been dealing with pirates for a couple of years and that was how he had still been making money. Belle tried to get Robert to stop dealing with the pirates. He couldn't - as a disgraced soldier no one would hire him for honest work. Once Belle was healed Robert taught her how to fight with a blade to protect herself if the thugs ever came again - she surprise him with her aptitude and fast learning. A moth after Belle turned seventeen, Robert was seen killing the men who had attacked her and then making his way to the rendezvous with the pirates. The Governor's men came to their house with a warrant for his arrest, but Belle managed to sneak him out the house through the back. He made his way to the port and escaped with his pirate friends. He was to come back in a month or so for Belle. However, when Robert disappeared, Belle was accused (rightly) of aiding his escape and was slung into the cells of Fort James.

Name: "Noros" Age: 19 Gender: Male Appearance: Scruff and short, rather scrawny altogether, short, poorly cut, and uneven dark brown hair, dark green eyes, and relatively dark scars adorning his arms Occupation: Thief Skills and attributes: Despite his looks, he had a great amount of endurance and an even greater threshold for pain, he carries a short sword and dagger but uses the short sword much more often. Throughout his life he has been caught and beat up by guards, but he's managed to escape each of these times. What he lacks in stealth, he more than makes up for in endurance, luck, and cleverness. General Personality: He is rather quiet, but once you gain his trust he'll be friendly and, unlike most other thieves, loyal to a fault. He still acts a bit younger than he is.

Hey Jessi this is the profile i was talking about:
Name: Jimmy Jenkins
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Appearance: Around 5'11" Jimmy is handsome, he has a chiselled face with fine features, his hair is a light blonde and is mid-length and worn fashionably.
Occupation: Jimmy was born and raised a thief, never knowing his father. His mother had been a maid in an English nobleman’s household before she was thrown from the house by the nobleman’s wife for supposedly “wooing” her husband. His mother now works as a barmaid and Jimmy grew up in the poor slums of Port Royale.
General Personality: Jimmy is a rogue, he is confident, yet not overly so, he knows he is handsome and uses it. He is also an extremely good actor and has fantastic skills that help him in tough situations. He is very skilled with a cutlass thanks to the many pirates who frequen the tavern where his mother works. However, he prefers to use a dirk that he carries in his right boot. His skills that i spoke of range from being able to charm many a young lady to being able to win at practically any card game.

Name: Joss SmifittAge: 20 Gender: Female Appearance: 5’5” Voluptuous figure. Thick black straight hair worn waist-length, dark brown eyes, olive complexion. Occupation: Waitress/Barmaid at the Wobbly Pheasant…a tavern not far from the prison. Background: Joss is Morvyn Smifitt’s daughter. He had been accused of privateering and was eventually executed although he pleaded his innocence. Although she loved him dearly and wanted to believe him, Joss sometimes wonders. She hates Governer D'Eath for executing her father. She began working at the Wobbly Pheasant at an early age as her father, then her only surviving relative, had left her there when he had to leave on voyages. Virgil Swift (owner of the Wobbly Pheasant), though not quite as quick on the uptake as his name implies, spotted free labor when he saw it and put her to work. So, while she does get free room and board she rarely has money or freedom (working for the family business doesn’t allow for much time off) and resents it. Joss is looking for a way out! Ok...now that that's done I'm gonna start a bar brawl (once my profile is approved)...anyone not in prison can join in!! LOL Actually, start without me...I'll be along to help bust heads later...see y'all in prison. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

Oh-kay. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) I've been waiting to use that name, too. Do I really have to since it's not in the same RPG? EDIT: Well, no answer seems to be forthcoming so I'm changing the name so I can move on. Is Joss okay or does someone else on the site have a character named that, too??

Name: Alois D'Ali Age: 20 Gender: female
Appearance: Very wiry and a bit short, Alois is always taken for a boy (the name helps). Her red-blond hair is worn in a short queque (sp?), tied back by a length of leather wrapped about it, and she wears the usual cabin boy togs of short pants and stained, slightly ragged white shirt. She normally goes barefoot, but has a pair of woven sandals she made herself. Her green eyes are always showing a fiery spirit, and even at the worst of times, her smile will show amazingly white teeth against the coffee of her skin.
Skills and attributes: She never says 'enough', speaks the islander trading patois, and is quick and agile in a brawl. She is deadly with her two rapiers onboard ship, fairly good on rooftops, but only 'ok' on the streets. She knows a little of navigation from spying in the Captain's cabin, and can read a map. Her balance and movement are excellent, as must be expected of a cabin boy, but always seems to be moving slow, something that has earned her many beatings and reprimands. Her anger over this is something else, as in truth, she is moving very quickly. Weaknesses: Very defensive over her 'slowness', and will take even the slightest inference to it in very bad temper. She doesn't do well in any kind of street fight, being accustomed to the ways of ship and bar room. Although swift on her feet, her strength compared to a boy her age is about that of a 15 year old, and her blows are usually of little effect. She doesn't know when it would be best to quit, and often finds herself stuck in very bad situations that she has much trouble extricating herself from. Her english is deplorable, and her accent is worse, often leading to misunderstandings that get her into trouble.
History: Alois grew up in the islands, her father a rarely home sailor and her mother a native. The day after her fifteenth birthday, about to be married off to one of the warriors in the tribe, Alois escaped onto the next ship that came (pirate), and became a cabin boy. Since then, she has become an able seaman, moving from ship to ship. She ran into her father once on Jamaica, and he began her teaching in swords. She continued to pick up whatever she could on her own, and at age 17, gained her first rapier from the hand of another pirate in battle. The next year, when the ship came into port, she half-stole, half-bought (with blood) the other, a fine steel blade made in India. The last two years, she has stayed on the pirate ship The Weave.
How's this? Ok? More weaknesses? Less abilities?

No that sounds fine Twilight, I can believe that ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) join in and lets get PRG'ing LOL We need more blokes... beginning to think my character should've been male. As long as everyone remembers that women were mostly considered useless in those days we'll manage just fine!

I guess we could end up with a mostly-female crew who are the terror of the high seas. We could shanghai men and make them give us pedicures... (kidding...just kidding. Mostly.)

![O_o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/browraise.png) How long have pedicures been around anyway? Isn't this a bit older than that? I dunno. Anyway... Feel free to make multiple characters. It doesn't seem to be causing problems in any of the other RPGs, whereas making men into slaves may do just that. ![:P](http://pics.greatestjournal.com/userpic/2529730/129936)
