Ok. I have a nifty idea.
Here in the Dungeons and Dragons board, I'm going to start a story.
I will control the plot of the story, but it will be based on the actions of YOUR characters.
To make things simpler, we won't go by conventional D&D rules, since most of you don't know them very well.
This is what you can pick from:
Races[/b]
Human - versatile and intelligent Dwarf - intelligent and strong Elf - wise and quick Half-Elf - versatile and intelligent Halfling - weaker and smaller but very quick and intelligent (half the size of humans) Half-Orc - strong but not usually very smart Gnome - weaker and smaller but intelligent (also half the size of humans)
Classes[/b]
Barbarian - berzerker sort of fighting, usually strong but not very intelligent, usually quick tempered, fights with muscles and adrenaline Cleric - priests or priestesses, usually healers or hunters of zombies/skeletons/ghouls Druid - good with animals, able to speak to some animals (usually just a few types, Eg: wolves, birds, etc.), can later transform into animals when experienced enough (I will decide when that is if anyone chooses this class), minor healing abilities, cannot wear METAL armor Fighter - uses any weapons, but usually just 1 or 2 (Eg: sword and bow) Monk - expert of unarmed combat, cannot wear armor Ranger - usually specializes in Two-weapon fighting (Eg: long-sword and short sword) or ranged combat (Eg: bows or crossbows) Rogue - sometimes stealthy, always versatile, can specialize in almost anything (except magic for the most part), but usually thieves or assassins Sorcerer - Natural born magic casters (limited spells total) Wizard - Magic casters that use scrolls and spellbooks (limited spells per day) -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So go ahead and make your characters, and once you've chosen these traits, I'll add a bit more to enhance your characters, and then we can get started.

Name: L'Alis Race: Elf Gender: Female Class(es): Ranger Age: 23 (human terms) Alignment: chaotic good
Appearance: Still growing, but at the moment looks about 15. Delicately boned with fine features. Uptilted eyes/eyebrows and sharply pointed ears of the usual elf. Long black hair with blue/silver highlights, and eyes like the Mediterranian sea under the sun. Carries a composite longbow and quiver of arrows over her left shoulder, has a rapier and a longsword tied into her sash on her right side. Wears elven leathers, patterned by leaves to blend into the forest.
Skills: A dead shot with her bow, and can fight 10 foes at once with her swords...but has no actual battle experience to back it up. She can move through the woods so that the animals aren't disturbed, and is a proficient tree-walker. She can survive on her own well enough that she rarely, if ever, goes into 'civilization'.
Faults: Inexperienced and prone to rush into things. Can be cocky and less than polite (by elven standards). Seems cold to those who first meet her. While she knows what to do with her swords, she hasn't gone up against anyone in a real battle situation, and hasn't encountered someone with more heft to their blows (she's used to Elven strength).
Personality: Bold and mischevious, but caring under her indifferent exterior. Usually is exuberantly happy, but doesn't let it show.
Background: Was raised by humans for her first five years, then was taken back by the elves when they found her 'orphaned'. They trained her well, and she morphed into a satisfactory elf...until she finally had enough and left. Now she wanders and trys to learn everything she can of humans.

Just make a regular profile.
By the way, rangers have their own spells, not sorcerer spells. But I'll be managing everyone's spells and such because you guys aren't very experienced.

Name: Vreal Oromis Race: Human Class: Rogue Gender: Male Age: 20 Alignment: Neutral Evil
Appearance: Black leather tunic and pants. black cloth hooded cloak shoulder length black hair that is almost always back in a ponytail. lean and toned muscles. thin. scars cover much of hiw torso front and back from his lost battle and his close calls. the most prominent ones are: there are three equally spaced slashes from his right temple to the base of the left side of his neck; and one down the length of his left forearm. clean shaven and well kept whenever possible, for he wants his appearance to reflect his abilities. full blade sheath strapped over his shoulder and attached to his back.
Skills: Stealth and hiding, Flexabilty and acrobatics, swordplay
Faults: Prefers to speak his mind, even when socially unacceptable. lets other know when their actions don't follow his views. Prefers to work alone even when cooperation is in his best interest
Personality: Very untrustworthy, equally untrusting, not worried about being "dishonorable" because, to him, everyones rules are different so he does as he feels fit. his beliefs are his law and in most situations believes them to rule those around him as well.
Background: Vreal was born the son of a knight and was trained become one himself. he excelled in swordplay and eventually began training in full blades. When he was 16, his father went on a campaign with the royal army. With the army gone a small band of men attempted to overtake the defenseless castle. The Knights in training were called upon to defend the castle. The men were easily defeated, all except their leader. Vreal was the one who challenged him. The man defeated him easily using underhanded tactics to catch Vreal flatfooted. The young knight was furious that he had lost to such underhanded tactics. But he took after the mans tactics forming them to work with his full blade training. After several years of training he could sneak with the stealth and grace of an assassin and struck with the precision and power of a trained swordsman. When he used it in battle he was praised for his kills but dishonored for his tactics and was demoted of his knighthood. Angered that the kingdom would not make use of his swordsmanship he became a traveling mercenary searching to prove his worth.

Oooh, this sounds fun! I'll go with:
Name: Aeryn Agaesima Race: Half Elf Class: Druid(ess) Gender: Female Age: About 24 as humans would reckon it Alignment: Neutral Good
Appearance: Long silver hair, fair skin slightly tanned, large turquoise eyes. A few freckles. Loose, cotton clothing. Refuses to wear animal skins. Has a bo staff strapped to her back.
Skills: Stealth, blending into the forest. Tracking and healing. Good with animals, and good survival skills.
Faults: Very dreamy, often drifts off and loses train of thought. A bit scatter brained. Quite quiet, but with a tendancy to panic.
Personality: Um ... see above. But bright and optimistic, generally gentle and kind. Takes a lot to anger.
Background: Born to an elven father and human mother, she was rejected by her mother's people for her differences and by her father's people she was simply scorned. Because of this she chose to remove herself to a life of seclusion as a druid, living deep in the forest and content for her only company to be animals. Despite all this her spirits weren't dampened, and she continues to live life to its fullest with the best traits of both elves and humans.

blossom just so you know half-elves reach maturity at age 20 and live to about 180 so 50 is decently old for them. so they mature a little slower then humans

I also need to figure out how much money you're supposed to start with, in order to purchase equipment (so everyone is on an equal level). We have to go to church now, so I'll post it later on when we get back. Sorry for the delay.

Perhaps use the stats under our names with modification?

No, the stats under everybody's names is just for fun. It's actually based on post count, which wouldn't be equal for everyone.
Ok, I have an idea.
Write down all the equipment your characters have (everyone). I'll tell you how much gold you have left over.

Sure, you can join. The character profiles go here, but the story itself is #15 in the story board forum.
Just choose a race and class and I'll tell you any information you need to know in order to role play your character.
