The night was cold and silent. It had rained earlier in the day and her clothes were still wet. She was hunting and now had lost all trace of her quarry. Climbing the tall pine had been no help either. They were long gone and she would just have to start over tomorrow.
Relentless climbed down from the tree and found a safe spot to camp. She wriggled and wedged herself into a crevice between some rocks. There would be no fire tonight and with earth all around her she would be able to feel someone's approach before they reached her. Tomorrow was going to be a long day and she would need some rest.

Gabriella stomped through the forest, she was so angry. The day had started out miserably, she had woken up soaking wet with her entire camping equipment drenched, then to make matters worse she had stumbled on the path and had fallen down a muddy embankment. Soaking wet and completely covered in mud from head to toe, her boots squished with each angry stomp. She needed to find somewhere dry to camp for the night. She found the clearing where Relentless was hiding and looked around for a place to camp that would be dry.

Rel tracked the movements of the woman stomping noisily around the camp site she had picked. She curled more tightly, pulling her arm over her head. The vibrations of her footfalls in her bones and reverberating in her skull. Until the woman went to sleep there would be no rest for her. Once she was still she would leave for a new spot to sleep. She had no doubt the woman would be restless in the night and Rel couldn't stand anyone tossing and turning.
Rel peeked over her elbow for the woman again. She could pick up smudgy colors in her periphery, but the woman's core was white-hot heat.

Ander had gained some ground on his pursuers. Most people believed that it was his master, and not Ander himself, who had murdered the King and Queen. Unluckily for Ander, most was not enough to roam freely looking for the Princess.
He only caught a glimpse of her escaping while fighting his master, and it had been the first time he had seen her, but he was almost certain that she had taken this path. Unfortunately, he had lost what he had thought to be her tracks hours ago in the rain.
He could hear those behind him growing louder. He had to lose them. He looked over his shoulder to be sure they're weren't in sight. Sure enough, their view of him was obscured not only by distance, but by bushes and trees. He took this opportunity to jump off the road and slide down a muddy embankment, all but guaranteeing they wouldn't be able to find him.

Gabriella didn't sense anyone in the area, so she scanned the are and spotted a crevice that looked as though it might lead to a small dry area where she could at least cram some of her equipment and her pack. she neared the opening of the crevice and began to try and enter the space.

Relentless hissed at Gabriella the closer she came to her. She lunged forward and landed on her feet in front of the rocks. She was not about to have any pointy objects shoved in her face. She had already had too many sharp items around her body at one point in her life. Never again. She bristled defensively, wary of an attack from the strange woman.

Gabriella heard the hissing and jumped back, "who's there?" she asked drawing her sword and standing back, it was heavy and she was not used to it's weight, so she stumbled a bit when she pulled it out of it's sheath.

Ander had found a deer path and was following it from a few yards parallel to it, just in case his pursuers had managed to find where he slid down off the main road. He took care to cover his tracks as best he could, but the muddy ground made his tracks difficult to conceal.
Suddenly, he heard the sound of a sword unsheathing in the distance. Had they found him!?
...No. No...the sound had been from ahead of him.
He unsheathed his own sword as quietly as possible, and slowly stalked closer to the clearing ahead, but making sure to remain hidden.

The pale woman turned her head from side to side slowly, taking in the surroundings. She caught sight of Ander's heat pattern. Two people she could take. Swords were long and bulky she could handle them.

Gabriella stepped forward trying to see who was hiding in the darkness. "who is there?" she asked again until she finally caught sight of Relentless. she hopped back having never seen a creature quite like her before. She was exotic looking and Gabriella immediately regretted her sudden reaction, she was fascinated by her and wanted to learn more. "What are you?" she asked excitedly.

She shifted her stance to keep them both in her sight. The female appeared less threatening and more curious. "I am Relentless." She introduced herself, not bothering to answer the other question. It was complicated to answer and best left unanswered until she knew who she was dealing with. She had too many enemies already.

Ander saw a woman holding a sword with which she clearly had little to no experience, and strange animal-like humanoid who had crawled out from what appeared to be...maybe a cave. Ander's vision was slightly obscured by a fog that had been forming. The girl spoke, then creature spoke, and sounded... female, he supposed.
Ander re-shealthed his sword, then loosened the knife hidden up his sleeve, and continued to watch.

Relentless hissed at the person she saw in the bushes. They would only be hiding if they had ill-intent. She kept her mouth open, breathing slowly. Male, her lips curled back from her fangs to allow more air in. Sweat and adrenaline. He has been running. She picked up scents from the female too. Anger had a unique smell.

Gabriella jumped back to give her room, "Relentless, I mean you no harm I just seek a dry place to hide but I see this one is taken." she said lowering her sword. "I am Gabriela, but I will not bother you further."

Ander had no intention of getting involved in this. Now that he had lost his pursuers, finding the nearest settlement would be a priority.
He silently slid his knife back into its holster up his sleeve, and made his way as quietly as possible through the bushes, going around the clearing, but keeping an eye on the girl and the strange creature. He would save the girl if he thought her threatened, but it did not seem to be the case.
He made it about halfway through the clearing, and could now see the girl's face. There was something familiar about her, though he felt certain he'd never met her. He shook off the feeling. He must find the princess if he had any chance of living without the need to evade the law.
Making his way further around the edge of the clearing, such that he was about 30 paces behind the strange creature, he turned to move on in his original direction of travel.
Just then, he heard a stir in the distance. Quite loud. Damn! Had his pursuers found his path?

Rel's hearing was about average, but she could feel sounds and vibrations. She dropped to her belly to get as much of her body in contact with the ground. There they are, she closed her eyes. The horses sounded heavy. Their riders weighed them down. Were they after that annoying girl, Gabriella? Or maybe it was that mystery figure that had never come forward? Shady.
She hopped up and looked towards Gabriella. "Do not go. There are riders out there."

"we must hide, they must be after me. Can we both fit into that crevice?" she asked wondering if this Relentless would be willing to share her dry shelter with a stranger. "I'm sorry to have brought trouble upon you." she added hastily feeling guilty at having brought trouble to yet another person.

Then suddenly from the complete opposite direction she saw him approaching, she felt him before she saw him. It was a mixture of familiarity and fear, and desperation... Someone was seeking her, she had been feeling it lately. As though an invisible rope was tied around her waist and was tugging her towards some invisible source. She had been frightened by it so she ran away, every time she felt it getting closer and stronger she would flee yet again, evading her invisible captor. He was here and as his face came into view she saw him fully. He was someone from her kingdom... a kinsman? out here? "I think I will stay and fight too, this sword is heavy but I will adjust. See there someone is coming." Gabriella said as the feeling burning in her gut grew stronger and stronger and her urge to flee did the same.

Relentless watched her from her periphery, barely able to see in colored vision that way. "You might hurt yourself with that." She produced a long knife which she always carried with her. "Use that if they get close. It will slip well between armor as well as bones. I keep it well sharpened."

Gabriella took the knife and murmured her thanks, "You come well prepared. I think this one has been after me for some time I have "felt" him. " she said as the man stepped into the clearing. He was a tall man with a long jagged scar adorning one cheek. He looked at Gabriella with a frenzied look of anticipation, as though he had just won a great battle. "Princess, at last I have found you. The last member of the royal family. I must complete the job I started, who is this creature you have involved?" he asked approaching slowly speaking slowly and firmly with conviction as though he had no faith that Gabriella and Relentless would be able to defeat him. Gabriella gasped at the sudden revelation, this was the master mind behind the plot to kill her family.

Ander overheard the stranger say the Princess's name, and he turned. The urge to run out and face her pursuer flashed, but he quelled it. It would be much easier to approach him from behind.
Ander moved slowly, forcing himself to consider all of the possibilities. There were others with this man, but clearly he was confident enough in his skills enough to reveal himself first. Or perhaps he was confident in his back-up, hiding in the wooded area behind him. That could be it.
Ander quickened his pace slightly, moving around and behind the man, keeping an eye on him and the Princess. The creature near the Princess had a dangerous presence, and Ander did not think that it would lose to the man, at very least not easily. Ander decided his job would be to eliminate the back-up. It should prove easy to seperate them in the wooded enviroment, and take them out separately.
He just hoped the strange creature wouldn't decide to turn on Gabriella before he returned to the clearing.

"He called me a creature." Relentless spoke softly, sounding almost contemplative. "I am not less. I am not human, nor elf, but I am not less."
She leveled her gaze on him. Her stance did not change, but she was ready to fight. She did not like being treated as though she were a lesser being. She was prepared to teach him how woefully he had misjudged her if he continued to be threatening. It had nothing to do with the other female, Gabriella, but she wouldn't just leave her to face the men alone. It had been a while since she'd had a good fight. Since she had given the other woman her knife she was unarmed. She preferred hand to hand combat.
"I suggest," her s-sound exagerated in a slight hiss, "you cease your threats and halt your approach."

Ander crept up behind the first of the men he'd located, grabbing the man by the chin and slitting his throat, then covering the man's mouth and lowering him to the ground to prevent any noise, placing him face down softly.
Now for the next... he thought as he stalked silently through the trees.

The scarred man decided words were trivial and instead advanced forward with a heavy broad sword motioning for his three cronies to follow his lead. But only two came out of the forest, where was his other man at arms?He decided to look for his man later and instead finish the job he had set out to do. He lifted his sword in the air and charged Gabriella as the two men at arms charged Rel. Gabriella moved to avoid the sword and spun around with almost inhuman speed sinking Rel's knife deep into his belly. He let out a howl and fell to the ground in pain. It was not a blow to kill but rather a blow to incapacitate him so she could get the information he so desperately sought. She turned to see how Rel was faring with the two men at arms.
