"Couldn't have said it better," Clive laughed, "What do you do? If you don't mind me asking."

"I can go now." Savannah answered, she inclined her head briefly at her pack as she hoisted it up onto her shoulder, "I have everything I need."
"My family..." she clapped a hand to her mouth, "Bugger, I forgot. Hang on I need to make a phone call." she answered and ducked through the crowd to the nearest pay phone booth.
She soon returned. "They'd forgotten I was even coming." Savannah rolled her eyes. "Kenyans!" she laughed, her voice light and musical. She fended off another eager lad wanting to carry her bag.
It was then she heard a voice nearby, within the cafe. "I'm a treasure hunter, sort of." it was the man who was sitting by the blonde girl, he had a strong American accent. "Interesting line of work." she answered cooly.
"We REALLY gotta go." Savannah insisted to her new friend. She held out a hand.
"I'm Savannah, Savannah Mallard."

"I don't mind," Rika smiled, "I'm an archaeologist. So I guess we're in similar fields. What brings you to Kenya?"

"I was tipped off about an artifact," he paused, "Well, half of an artifact, as it were. A museum hired me to track it down, and I was told I could find at least one of the halves in Kenya."

That caused both Rika's eyebrows to rise.
"You wouldn't be talking about the amulet found in Massai Mara, would you?"

"Actually, yes," Clive replied, "Why do you ask?"

"And old friend tipped me off about the rumour as well," Rika explained, "But that's all it was. A rumour. The amulet might have been in Kenya at one point but it's not any more. So now I'm stuck here until my sister can get me a flight home."

"So neither of the halves are here?" Clive asked, disappointed.

"Well only one half was found in Messai Mara anyway. But yeah, it's been moved. I did some digging around for it but there was nothing. My sister's doing her own search to see if she can come up with any leads."

"Perhaps I can help you," Clive offered, "What do you want with the artifact? Is it just professional interest, or something else?"

"A mixture of both. I hope you'll forgive me if I don't share my personal reasons just yet." Rika answered, leaning back in her chair. "How do you think you can help - hang on." Her phone was ringing.
Rika dug it out of her pocket, and seeing that it was Jet, answered promptly, "Hey. Whatcha got for me?"
"Sorry, sis, but I can't get you a flight yet," was her sister's reply, "But I did find a possible lead for you. Savannah Mallard."
"Mallard? As in -"
"Yeah, you got it. Savannah's the 22 year old daughter of Dr. Stephen Mallard, the archaeologist who found the artifact. According to my sources, she's in Kenya now. She got a flight out from Melbourne ... but it was delayed. She might even be at the airport now."
"What does she look like?" Rika asked, already sitting upright and scanning the crowds.
"I just emailed a picture of her to your PDA."
Sure enough, her PDA promptly beeped from inside her handbag. Rika quickly pulled it out and accessed the email her sister had just sent. Inside was a picture of an attractive young woman of 22, with light brown hair naturally highlighted red. Rika sat rigid in her chair. That woman ... she recognised her.
Rika frowned, thinking, then realised she'd seen her at a table in the cafe, with the attractive guy she'd noticed. She quickly turned round in her seat, but Savannah was gone.
"Dammmit!" Rika muttered, then spotted a young woman with light brown hair highlighted red moving toward the airport exit ... it was her!
"Gotta go, Jet. Speak to ya later!" She quickly shoved her phone and PDA away, swung her bag over her shoulder and stood up. She looked down at the treasure hunter and grinned,
"You wanna help? Then come on."

"Who are we looking for?"

Rika pointed out Savannnah Mallard.
"Her. Savannah Mallard." She looked back at the guy, "What's your name, by the way?"

Rika wound her way through the crowd, keeping Savannah in sight. When the gap between them started to close, she called out to her,
"Hey - excuse me! Excuse me! Savannah Mallard?"

"Yeah," Rika called back the yelled again after Savannah and the man, "Savannah Mallard! Excuse me - Ms. Mallard!"
She wondered who the man was. She pulled her PDA from her bag as she walked, and accessed the webcam her sister had installed. She held it up to capture the man, then emailed the few seconds footage to her Jet with a brief note saying Can you find out who he is? R

yeah, and give me a chance too, hey? lol
We REALLY gotta go." She held out a hand.
"I'm Savannah, Savannah Mallard."
He shook it and smiled. "Twi Camarouge. Let's hurry. My plane's ready to go."
They moved away quickly through the airport and were nearing the exit when shouts broke out behind them.
"Hey - excuse me! Excuse me! Savannah Mallard?"
"Savannah Mallard! Excuse me - Ms. Mallard!"
He glanced back and saw the blond from the cafe and another man following them. The woman took his picture then, and he blinked, then grinned to himself. It wouldn't help her any. As far as most people were concerned, he had no records avaliable...and certainly not with his picture near any of them. Even his pilot's license was locked under code. If they found out anything at all, they'd have to be a genius, and even then they'd only know he could fly and came from the States.

Lol. It's a good thing Rika's sister's a genius then ANYWAYA couple of minutes after she sent the email, her phone rang again. Rika answered it, still pushing through the crowds towards Savannah Mallard. "Hello?" "I cross-referenced the guy's photo but there were no matches on any database." Jet informed her. "What? No way! How can that be?" "He's probably had his records erased. Not really a good sign." "Dammit. So can't you get anything on him?" "I didn't say that. Just give me a while, I'll find something." Jet replied indignantly. "Good." "Why this guy, anyway?" "He's with Savannah Mallard." Rika explained. "Ah. Right. I'll let you know when I find something." "Okay. See you."

Savannah heard her name being called and whipped around to see who was calling her. The blonde woman from the cafe and the guy she had been sitting with her were intent on catching her. Savannah's first reaction was to flee but she changed her mind and stood her ground, waiting for them to catch up to her.
"Yes?" she asked, constructing an air of casual indifference around her. She put her hands on her hips which placed them conveniently within reach of her personal alarm. It wasn't much but the ear-piercing squeal would attract the attention of the heavily armed security around them and may give her the crucial moments she might need to get clear away from here.

Twi slowed, then circled around, watching closely. He could just go get the plane ready for takeoff with the pre-flight checks, but he couldn't guarantee his plane could be found easily without his guidance, and with that other guy around, Savannah might need help. Weighted fishing line could be a deadly, invisible weapon.

"Yes?" Savannah asked with a casual indifference Rika found almost too believable to be true.
"You're Savannah Mallard, right? Dr. Stephen Mallard's daughter?"
